Federal agents seized thousands of marijuana plants growing at two industrial-hemp test plots on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation early Thursday morning. No arrests were made, but grand-jury indictments are expected. For 1,000 or more plants, punishment upon conviction is 10 years to life in prison.

N.H. hemp advocates seek day in court
A Hopkinton farmer and a state advocacy group have taken their quest to grow hemp to the U.S. Supreme Court. The case is the first hemp lawsuit to reach the nations highest court, their lawyer, Gordon Blackeney of Concord, said. The lawsuit was filed June 27 and the court has yet to decide whether to accept it. The Supreme Court hears only a tiny fraction of cases filed - about 100 out of more than 7,000 filed in a year.
