  1. Hemp for Victory Celebration Planned in Conjunction with WWII Memorial Dedicatio
    Bob Newland, principal spokesperson for the South Dakota Cannabis Coalition, announced today that the Coalition plans a “Hemp for Victory” celebration in Pierre, SD on Sept. 14 and 15, coinciding with the dedication of the World War II monument that weekend.

  2. Hemp has a future
    The Head Street resident who is president of Transglobal Hemp Products Corp. wants to establish an industrial hemp industry on Vancouver Island. Johnson’s vision calls for the establishment of industrial hemp mills on the Island, most of which would be located in the Cowichan Valley.

  3. Hemp in Illinois
    What good is hemp? Hemp is good for food, fuel, and fiber. Lets look at food first. Food in the hemp plant like so many other plants comes from the seeds. Hemp seeds contain 25% protein and 40% fat in the form of oil. The seeds themselves can be eaten. Ask any parakeet. The seeds keep the birds coat sleek and makes them sing. All very nice for birds but what about people.

  4. Hemp in Illinois, Part 2
    Hemp has a very recent and interesting history in the Rockford, Illinois area. The story starts in 1937 when marijuana was outlawed. Since America law enforcement was unable to tell the difference between hemp and marijuana hemp growing was outlawed.

  5. Hemp is not marijuana
    The DEA claims that hemp is marijuana, a narcotic. Gen. Barry R. McCaffrey, retired, former director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, has called the effort to legalize industrial hemp “a thinly disguised attempt...to legalize the production of pot.”

  6. Kentucky Assembly bills a mixed bag
    Another noteworthy bill, to encourage research into the use of industrial hemp, was passed with proclamations of a great future, but the reality has turned out something less. The bill would let university agriculture research projects go forward, but no one has pursued the idea, deterred by the strict law enforcement and security measures of the federal government, which considers hemp illegal in any form.

  7. No hemp bill this year
    A bill to permit cultivation of industrial hemp in Nebraska has been delayed until consideration in the 2002 session. State senators postponed debate on LB 273, sponsored by Sen. Ed Schrock of rural Elm Creek, according to Legislative Update, a weekly publication of the Unicameral. The bill would allow Nebraska farmers to raise industrial-grade hemp as an agricultural crop. Schrock says hemp is used to create many different products, including paper, soap and sweaters.

  8. Purdue offers information, advice at Weed Day 2001
    Some say the weeds are wild hemp. Rick Henley, area agronomist for Garst Seed Co. disputes this.

  9. Sainsbury’s launch hemp 9bar
    Sainsburys — the UK’s leading supermarket chain now stocks “9bar” — hemp snack bar, and “Motherhemp” range of hemp pasta and pesto.

  10. Santa Barbara hemp festival
    The 3rd Annual Santa Barbara Hemp Festival will be taking place outdoors Sunday, July 15th at De la Guerra Plaza in downtown Santa Barbara. Starting at noon and continuing til 8pm there will be Hemp Vendors, live music, food, a fashion show and admission to the public is free.
