  1. Get the facts straight about hemp
As governor, I served the people of Kentucky from 1967 to 1971. In my role as governor, I listened to all sides of the issues, carefully considered all opinions before me and tried to be fair in my responses. Being actively involved in civil public service, I am often asked for my opinion on various matters affecting our state. One of the most recent, the industrial hemp issue, also has proven to be one of the most important.

  2. Government clears way for hemp trials
The Government has finally cleared the way for controversial hemp-growing trials. More than a year after former Customs minister Phillida Bunkle approved a working party to investigate hemp licensing, the group has issued an agenda to the Hemp Industries Association.

  3. Green light sought for hemp trials
Health Minister Annette King is considering whether to give the go-ahead to hemp growing trials. A year-old working party to investigate hemp licensing has reportedly issued an implementation timeline to the Hemp Industries Association. The suggested timeline would see licences issued by June.

  4. Hard lessons about hysteria over drugs
Rep. Ron Stephens (R-Troy) checked himself into the Betty Ford Clinic the other day because he was addicted to drugs.

  5. Hemp — not hash
When a box of hemp food products arrived at the office, colleagues were aghast: “Is that legal? What are you going to do with that?” they asked, pointing at the little brown seeds in the palm of my hand. “Eat it,” I said.

  6. Hemp a cover for legalizing pot
Separating hemp reality from hemp rhetoric is like separating fleas from dogs: it’s hard to do, and it’s temporary. When one hemp fact is established, pro-hemp advocates rush in with another of their own facts. Should we really turn for facts to former CIA Director James Woolsey, who bragged about his client the North American Industrial Hemp Council, by saying there was not a tie-dyed shirt owner among the members? He neglected to check their boxers. Several of the board members were either vigorous pro-drug advocates or their close associates.

  7. Hemp bill killed by Senate panel
A proposal to legalize industrial uses of the marijuana plant hemp went up in smoke Thursday, but state lawmakers are still considering whether to let Arizona State University study its agricultural production.

  8. Hemp farming on the way
South Canterbury farmer David Musgrave says he will have no problems finding a market for hemp, should the Government allow cultivation of the plant on a trial basis. A Ministry of Health working group is on the verge of recommending New Zealand begin trial planting of hemp this spring.

  9. Hemp flag display presentation at 2001 Expo
Hemp US Flag of Mesa, Arizona, in conjunction with its “50-Flags For 50-States Project,” will present a display of their 100% hemp American flags arranged on the Main Stage of the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium for the upcoming fourth annual Santa Cruz Industrial Hemp Expo.

  10. Hemp is a vital crop
Governor Ryan—take off your idiot hat and free farmers to grow hemp. Spare us the wasted two years and cost “rediscovering” the multitude of uses for one of nature’s greatest gifts to us. It is estimated that there could be 25,000 to 50,000 products that could be made from or augmented by hemp.
