  1. California hemp bill moving along
    California AB 388 passed out of the Senate Agriculture and Water Resources Committee on a 6-2 vote on June 4, 2002. Next stop is the Senate Appropriations Committee. Chairman Jim Costa asked for an author’s amendment to include in the bill a request that the study also consider law enforcement considerations. Assemblymember Virginia Strom-Martin agreed.

    The data presented here are based on market surveys conducted by the “European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA)” between November 2001 and May 2002.     The proposed change in Switzerland’s law on narcotics could be a business opportunity for Swiss hemp farmers. In September, parliament will consider a draft law to decriminalise the consumption of cannabis. But the finer details of the law covering the growing and selling of cannabis or hemp plants and their products have yet to be worked out.

    We all think we know what marijuana is, but how well do any of us know the distinction between the weed that is smoked and the plant that has industrial uses? At the very least, South Dakota voters have the chance to expand their knowledge on the subject in the coming months.

  10. Hemp lip balm voted “top seller” by natural products retailers
    Natural products industry magazine, Integrated Health Retailer, in its June 2002 issue, voted HEMPOLA Lip Balm as the top seller in the “Personal Care” category. The magazine polls health retailers across Canada to glean such information on an on-going basis.
