A north Queensland study has found crops such as bamboo and hemp could revitalise rural communities hit by the downturn in the sugar industry.

TreuHanf to utilize wild hemp in Kazakhstan
On February 3, 2003 TreuHanf AG of Berlin, Germany created a partnership with FESA to form an international LLP enterprise, FESA Textile LLP, located in Almaty (Kazakhstan). TreuHanf AG holds 49% of the company capital. FESA Textile will develop and operate a larger plant for the processing of the wild hemp.
