Hemp Industry Demands Apology from DEA for Three Years of Harassment
Manufacturers and consumers of nutritious hemp food products are thrilled about the legal battle they won on February 6 when a three judge federal panel ruled unanimously that hemp foods are perfectly legal and safe to consume. Manitoba hemp producers say fibre industry is no pipe dream
In the late 1990s, a plan was launched to build a hemp processing plant at Dauphin. Shares were sold to raise capital but the project stalled with the collapse of Consolidated Growers and Processors, a company driving expansion of hemp production on the Prairies. Federowich said that episode is water under the bridge and he described the current effort as a locally driven one where the proponents want to get the project right rather than feeling compelled to rush ahead with construction.
