Boca beauty store features exclusive skin, hair and bath products

It’s a woman’s candy store, says Bobbi Martinez standing amidst a bountiful display of luxurious bath products at the GBS Beauty Store in Boca Raton.

Filled with only top-of-the-line goods in skin care, hair care, makeup and body creams, the store carries nearly 18,000 different products.

If it’s bath products you crave, the store carries everything from Dirty Girl, Get Fresh, Spa and Bomb Shell. They also carry the luxurious Cali line, designed by a countess in Italy, which specializes in first pressed olive oil, an ancient secret used for keeping the skin soft and supple, said Martinez, the store’s general manager.

“We carry a lot of specialty lines and European lines that you can’t find anywhere else,” she said.

Store owners, Marla and Ken Berns, said they research every product before it hits the shelves. The South Florida couple opened the chain of six beauty stores more than a decade ago, and have watched their expertise in the beauty biz turn into mega dollars.

If it’s hair care you’re after, the store has an entire aisle dedicated to brushes and another aisle filled with shampoos, conditioners, straighteners, volumizers and any other magical serums you can imagine. But you won’t find everyday drug store brands like Herbal Essence and Pantene in this beauty store.

GBS only carried the highest quality products, suitable for any aspiring Hollywood starlet. Britney Spears loves the decadent new Alterna line which uses hemp seed extracts for their hair care products and caviar for the most indulgent body moisturizers.

“Alterna is a great line. It has products for skinny hair to the thickest, most unruly hair,” said Martinez. “And it does everything it promises to do on the label.”

Phyto Specific is a new line that has celebs going crazy, said Martinez. The line also has a great trio of products to target customers with thinning hair that, she says, works miracles. Graham Webb is the master for taming curly hair and Bed Head makes products to suit every need, said Martinez.

If you’re looking to achieve that ultra straight sexy locks of Gyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston, the store carries the Chi ceramic hair straightener, which has been featured in “Vogue” and “In Style” magazines.

Each of the six stores also has a salon attached, where clients can pop in for a quick cut and color or pick the stylists brain about the best hair care products.

“The main difference between GBS and a regular drug store is that we carry top of the line products and are staff are highly trained about each line,” said Martinez.

Dr. Murad, founder of the famed skin care line, has visited the store several times to teach the staff about his luxurious creams and potions. The store also carries skin care lines from Celex-C and Wilma Schumann along with an exclusive makeup line from Mineral Glow.
