  1. 11th Annual HIA Convention
    The HIA Annual General Meeting will be all day Thursday, Nov. 4th. There will be two Dinner Meetings, opening night on Wednesday evening, the 3rd and the evening of the 4th at local restaurants.     A group of cane growers in Maryborough is setting out to summon support for an investigation into the viability of a local hemp mill.

  5. Czechs roll out marijuana flavoured liquor
    A large alcoholic drinks manufacturer has launched marijuana flavoured liquor, the company said. The drink does not contain any tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, which is the active substance in marijuana.

  6. Denial of permit hampers hemp festival
    The festival promotes nondrug aspects of the marijuana plant, from foods made with hemp seeds to clothes made from hemp fiber. Those products come from a strain of the plant that has no THC, the ingredient that creates the high. The festival also recognizes those who use the marijuana medicinally, a legal practice in Oregon for those who register with the state.

  7. Hemp Demand Up
    Over the past three years, the North American hemp industry has seen some steady growth. Some companies are reporting a 20 percent to 40 percent rise in annual gross sales over this period. While many of these firms are new businesses, some are established food companies who are finding hemp to be a profitable addition to their lines.

    Premium Crops Ltd, a specialist UK crop production company, has announced the closure of its hemp and flax processing factory located in North Wales.

  10. Hemp-growing trial to be sited in Catlins Project attracting worldwide interest
    The project, which Mr McIntosh terms as a “proof of concept,” will aim to prove the venture can be economic. There has been strong interest from Asian and European companies keen to exploit some of hemp’s skincare by-products.
