  1. 4th Annual Hemp Hoe Down: Black Hills South Dakota
    The Hemp Hoe Down is an educational event aimed at informing attendees about the benefits of industrial hemp. Industrial hemp is the healthiest food source and the longest and strongest natural fiber. It produces the most bio-mass and has the plant world’s highest percentage of cellulose, the building blocks of paper, plastics, and bio-composites. Hemp can also render tornado-resistant buildings, can be used as fuel to heat our homes, run our industries, and fuel our cars, all without dangerous toxic crop chemicals, and while helping to redistribute wealth to farmers from the bottom up.

  6. Hemp Sun-Screen Story Wrong on Drug Testing
    A recent poorly researched Associated Press story raises unfounded concerns that sun-screens, tanning lotions, and other personal care products made with hemp seed oil could cause false positive drug tests because they contain trace amounts of THC, the psychoactive ingredient of marijuana. These concerns are not based on scientific research and contradict earlier studies on this issue. There are no documented cases of a person failing a drug test after using hemp oil or hemp oil containing personal care products, such as soaps, shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers, tanning lotions, and sun-screens on the skin.

  7. Hemp breeding coming of age
    Dragla, a Ridgetown College plant breeder and probably Canada’s leading hemp specialist, just returned from a trip down under to work with the Aussies to develop hemp seeds that would grow well in a subtropical climate.

  8. Hemp factory closer to reality
    Proponents of a hemp-processing factory in Dauphin met with provincial officials Monday to present an updated business plan and secure financial backing. The Parkland BioFibre hemp factory would process locally grown hemp straw into fibre products.

    The high protein mixture, which contains 34 percent protein and essential fatty acids, has made his cattle healthier, happier and heftier, according to Wise.

  10. Hemp production trials extended
